The Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Border Force manage the security and integrity of the Australian border and assist people and cargo to move in and out of the country. Australian Border Force officers protect against the movement of illicit drugs and prohibited imports, collect customs duty payable by travellers and perform services for other agencies including the Department of Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture is charged with protecting Australia from exotic pests and diseases.
